On August 15, the Miller FFA took twelve students to Sedalia, Missouri to attend the First Annual Food Insecurity Day at the Missouri State Fair. They listened to a variety of speakers on food insecurity and how they can make a difference. One speaker was Cody Jones, former State FFA Vice President. Cody spoke about his year of service with Agri-Core that he spent in Ghana, West Africa. A key point that Cody made was “sometimes you don’t know the difference that you can make, but the most important part is showing up.” The students proceeded to package fortified macaroni and cheese meals that will be distributed to families out of the Central Missouri Food Bank. Over 340 FFA members from 30 FFA Chapters across the state of Missouri packaged 52,000 meals in just over an hour.
